As one of Lantern’s dedicated Product Owners, Kiren plays a pivotal role in ensuring our product and engineering teams operate smoothly and deliver the innovative solutions our clients value. Her talent for organisation, drive for improvement, and collaborative spirit make her a true force behind Lantern’s SaaS platform.

What’s your role at Lantern?

Kiren’s role as a Product Owner revolves around bridging the gap between teams, ensuring alignment, and driving delivery. She’s responsible for planning and prioritising work across Lantern’s development squads (small, agile teams focused on specific product areas). Kiren helps refine what each team is working on, plans two-week sprint cycles (focused work periods), and ensures everything meets the required standard before going live.

“It’s my job to keep everything on track – from building new features to handling issues that come up. I work closely with product managers, developers, and testers to make sure we’re delivering what our clients need.”

Kiren also highlights the importance of continuous improvement: “I organise agile ceremonies – like sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives – to keep our teams on the same page. These sessions help us reflect on what’s working, address challenges, and continuously refine our processes.”

What excites you about what you do?

For Kiren, the variety and fast-paced nature of her role are what keep her motivated. “No day is ever the same, and I thrive on that challenge. I love seeing a feature we’ve worked so hard on go live – it’s a tangible result of our efforts. It’s also rewarding to know that we’re building something meaningful for our clients.”

What really drives me is pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I always ask, ‘How can I do this better?’ That’s my approach in both life and work.

What are you most proud of?

Kiren has been instrumental in transforming Lantern’s product operations. When she joined, the product team was just getting started. Through her leadership, Lantern has adopted structured, repeatable processes that help squads deliver efficiently and consistently.

“Introducing these processes – from sprint planning to retrospectives – has been a game-changer for us. It’s given everyone clarity on their roles and what needs to be done. It’s also been exciting to see how these processes have scaled across the entire business.” Another significant achievement is building in-house squads to deliver our products. “Shifting to in-house squads has been a huge milestone,” Kiren shares. “It’s enabled us to work more collaboratively, iterate faster, and maintain a higher level of quality.”

What’s one thing people might not know about your role?

“Being a Product Owner is so much more than sprint planning and managing a backlog,” Kiren explains. “You often find yourself stepping into unexpected roles. Whether it’s testing features, debugging issues, or even supporting last-minute demos, you have to wear many hats. It’s all part of making sure everything runs smoothly.”

What have you learned along the way?

For Kiren, the biggest lesson has been finding her voice. “When I first started, I wasn’t very vocal—I worried about whether my ideas would work. But over time, I’ve learned that it’s okay to speak up, share your perspective, and trust your instincts. Trial and error are part of the process.”

How would you describe Lantern’s culture?

Kiren sees Lantern as a collaborative and evolving workplace. “We’re much more united now than when I started. There’s a shared sense of purpose, and people are always willing to help each other. It’s a friendly environment, and the offsite we had recently really helped bring everyone closer.”

She adds, “We’ve made great progress in becoming more inclusive and diverse, but there’s always room to grow. What’s encouraging is that we’re mindful and intentional about how we work and communicate.”
