Lantern, the private markets data assurance platform, strengthens technical leadership as the platform enters its next phase of development.
Lantern has today appointed Jef Rice as Chief Technology Officer. Jef brings over 25 years of engineering leadership across private markets, technology, and high-growth technology companies, and joins with a track record of building data infrastructure at significant scale.
Most recently, CTO at Altvia, the private equity CRM platform, Jef joined as VP of Engineering before being promoted to CTO in October 2024. During his three years there, he led the transition to a data-centric architecture and launched an AI assistant for investor insights. Before Altvia, he spent five and a half years at ZipRecruiter, from early-stage growth through to IPO, building a data signal engine that tracked 50 million data points daily to power marketplace intelligence.
The appointment reflects Lantern’s growing ambitions. Jef will lead the data and engineering teams responsible for delivering on Lantern’s technical roadmap, as the platform deepens its coverage of the full GP-LP data flow.
Lantern runs 2 million daily data tests to validate fund, portfolio, and investor data across every layer of the stack. As the platform’s scope continues to expand, Jef’s appointment gives Lantern the dedicated technical leadership to match.
About Lantern
